REQUISITION NUMBER: 17-014
TITLE: GIS Analyst
DEPARTMENT: Information Technology- 201 McMorran Blvd. Room 1400 Port Huron, MI 48060
WAGE RANGE: $45,300 – $50,889 (Annually Adjusted)
HOURS Full Time – Flexible Schedule Available
APPLY BETWEEN: February 16, 2017 through and including March 02,2017
OTHER INFORMATION: Open to St. Clair County employees and the public.
• The GIS Analyst posting is in compliance with the St. Clair County hiring policy guidelines instituted by the Board of Commissioners.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The GIS Analyst is responsible for the maintenance and expansion of St Clair County’s GIS system. This will include training, data and database management, development and recommendations of mapping software and products. This position will also be responsible for project coordination and related communication with County Departments and outside vendors and will assist in the development of organization-wide GIS standards and policies.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, EDUCATION:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or GIS required.
• Verifiable equivalent experience in Information Technology or GIS field will substitute for up to two years of education.
• A minimum of two (2) years GIS experience.
• Proven ability to understand and utilize a variety of technologies and GIS applications in order to effectively support clients.
• Proven ability to work well with peers, clients (users) and department heads.
• Effective communications skills both written and oral.
• Demonstrated training skills and effective leadership abilities.
• Proven skill in utilizing GIS software, especially the ESRI product suite
• Proven skill in utilization of SQL databases, database management and maintenance
• Proven skill in application development
• Basic understanding of Information Technology procedures, including file storage, security and networking.
• Proven ability to portray a helpful, competent and professional image.
• Possess competent organizational skills.
• Must be proficient in the use of various equipment including workstations, printers, GPS units, cell phones and other related peripheral devices.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Prior to starting employment, the candidate must complete a satisfactory background check.
• Must possess a valid State of Michigan operator license and maintain this license throughout employment in this position.
