GIS Geobase Operations Analyst at Joint Base Langley Eustis, Hampton VA
Position requires an active Secret security clearance or eligibility
The Air Combat Command (ACC) GeoBase program has an immediate opening for a qualified GIS analyst. Candidate will provide GIS program implementation, execution, and management services for the ACC Expeditionary Combat Support Division, in support of the ACC Civil Engineer and warfighter operations. You will support geospatial activities for the GeoBase program conducted in the AFNORTH, AFCENT, and AFSOUTH Area of Responsibilities (AORs) and perform database management in an ESRI ArcSDE enterprise environment.
Duties include:
• Support Expeditionary engineering operations, to include geospatial imagery and data collection, geospatial analysis, site visualization, creation of maps and plans.
• Create geospatial data by extracting natural and built features from high-resolution aerial photography, satellite imagery, LiDAR and DEM data, and NGA AAFIF and DAFIF datasets.
• Ensure compliance with SDSFIE 3.x standards in accordance with applicable standards such as AF Data Layer Specifications, GeoReach standards, Standard Operating Procedures, and control documents.
• Create and maintain geospatial metadata for each feature class. Metadata shall include the minimum required information and adhere to AF and DoD metadata standards (FGDC, DGMP, ISO).
• Create and load geospatial feature class data into a standard SDS 3.x AF Adaptation Geodatabase schema (e.g. FGDB, PGDB, and GDB) for MAJCOM, AF, and DoD submission and Government acceptance.
• Assist AF personnel in maintaining authoritative geospatial data. Work with Engineer Assistants to develop feature class data. Provide technical guidance in the creation and maintenance of geospatial data.
• Provide Data Quality Assurance / Quality Control Support to AFSOUTH using ESRI GIS Data Reviewer software. QA/QC procedures shall involve geometry, topology, attribution, domain, and metadata checks.
Required:
• BS or BA degree(s) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, or Cartography.
• Demonstrated proficiency with ArcGIS 10.x or higher, ArcSDE 10.x or higher and ArcServer 10.x or higher.
• Adequate written and verbal communication skills.
Desired (but not mandatory):
• US Air Force GeoBase (IGI&S) program experience.
• Working knowledge of applicable standards, such as SDSFIE (especially version 3.0), ISO, OGC, and FGDC.
• Experience managing GIS and IT projects. Demonstrated experience can be shown via training certificates or past projects.
• Experience in technical writing and documentation. Demonstrated experience can be shown via college transcripts, training certificates, or past projects.
• Experience in remote sensing and feature extraction.
